Bugzilla – Bug 8066
No "Welcome to Squeezebox" in Italian
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:31:35 UTC
For Boom, and probably SB3 and Transporter, it looks like the Italian translation for "Welcome to Squeezebox" is simply "Squeezebox". This is the string that displays on the screen when it boots. Has it always been like this? It's this way in the common strings file for all players. Isn't welcome in Italian "benvenuto"? We definitely need to make the Italian-speaking users more welcome!
I definitely see the string wrong in the boom app.strings file. Michael?
We had "benvenuto" in the community translation. But our official translators changed this to the current version a year ago. And yes, it's the same for all products. Thus this very likely has been done intentionally. BTW: German is "Willkommen!" only, without the product name...
François - could you please take care of this "issue"?
(In reply to comment #3) > François - could you please take care of this "issue"? Yes, I can take of the issue. But I guess it has been done regarding the limited space we have on the LCD display.
No, it's been like this for ages. Don't know why.
Francois: Any news on this?
François is on a vacation for another week. And the strings are with the translators to be translated. I expect them back in about two weeks.
Verified all languages in r33, look good French is a tiny bit cut off
