Description Mikael Nyberg 2008-04-26 01:22:43 UTC
Well i described the behavior in this tread:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46829

To make my point, the name corruption gets in to my SC settings.

With the older build of controller sw this was permanented.
It could still get stuck if you happens to save your player settings while the name is corrupt.

It's hard to catch ill try to make some screenshots when it occurs.

Squeezecenter bugging

One example off how this is showing in SqueezeCenter
Comment 3 Mikael Nyberg 2008-04-26 01:48:05 UTC
Some comments, the behavior off this is shows some variations maybe the status of SqueezeNetwork servers are a factor.
When i caught the last screenshot, the bug disapeared wery fast it lasted only 10 seconds, and shifting menu's in controller made it disappear .
Maybe this character conversion is meant take place so fast that nobody sees it's and not supposed to stuck permanently to player settings which only occurred once for me with older r2287 on controller.

So try with different revisions on Controller soft and Squeezecenter.

It may sound bizzare that Controller software can alter how SqueezeNetwork corrupts/alter SqueezeCenter settings ? but this is what i saw ?
Comment 4 Mikael Nyberg 2008-04-26 09:38:30 UTC
Ahaaa gotcha, Now the bug is consistent The player name is changed everywhere.
I don't know whats the difference.

I didn't have the browser page up ?

I did some fiddling with my other player at the same time ?

Restarting SqueezeCenter didn't change this.

Restarting Controller didn't change it.

Rebooting the Server didn't change it.

So the name change is permanent now, kök instead of kök.

Is there any log one can start ? I've turned off as much logging as possible due to massive amount of nuisance logging that seem to occur with the beta 7.0.1 ;-)

is there any file off particular interest that you want ?
Comment 5 Michael Herger 2008-04-26 09:43:02 UTC
Mikael - I fear it's not in SC alone, but somewhere in the name replication between SC, SN and (yes!) the player itself. "Kök" has already been in the description of a SC only bug Mickey remembered... (I would have used "Küche" as the example - we all seem to like to listen to some music in the kitchen :-))

We'll have to check this with the latest SN beta we're running internally. AFAIK we did some changes to better support non-latin character issues.
Comment 6 Mikael Nyberg 2008-04-26 09:45:15 UTC
is this error of any consequence ?

08-04-25 19:46:23.7350] Slim::Control::Request::execute (1757) Error: While trying to run function coderef [Slim::Control::Jive::downloadQuery]: [Can't call method "getString" on an undefined value at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/Slim/Control/Jive.pm line 2022.
Comment 7 Mikael Nyberg 2008-06-17 09:53:12 UTC
I upped the priority from "-" to P2 whatever that means ?
" - " must be wrong ?
what does target milestone "beck" means .
The bug is not completely unintresting as a lot of folks certainly have player with such names as mine.
Comment 8 Michael Herger 2008-06-17 23:39:34 UTC
You probably shouldn't set priorities if you don't know what it means ;-).

I've reset the target milestone, as we've already missed it.

Andy do you plan to look at this for Coldplay?
Comment 10 Andy Grundman 2008-06-20 14:07:15 UTC
Yes.
Comment 11 Chris Owens 2008-07-23 14:23:26 UTC
Retargeting for Devo. If you still want to look at these for Coldplay, Andy, please let me know and we can discuss it.
Comment 12 James Richardson 2008-08-15 12:50:36 UTC
Mikael / Andy:

I tested this bug today with the latest player firmware, and I am unable to reproduce the error.

Controller 7.2 r2838
Receiver r46

I'm going to mark this Fixed for now, if you see the error again please reopen the bug and provide a step by step to get the controller to show corrupted data.
Comment 13 James Richardson 2008-12-15 12:23:53 UTC
This bug has been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeNetwork!

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
