Description James Richardson 2008-04-23 14:18:23 UTC
When there is no account data entered in SC > Settings > SqueezeNetwork then the following services give confusing error messages when attempting to click on them:

Pandora
Rhapsody
Slacker
MP3Tunes Music Locker
Live Music Archive
Radio IO
LIve365

I would suggest we make the message LINK to the settings page, so customers simply click to go to the page.

Suggest re-writing error message to "It appears you have not entered a SqueezeNetwork account, please click here <link to settings page> to create or enter one"

James to put exact error message and we will review again for 7.1

This is a reminder that this bug is to QA for 7.1. Please review these bugs!
Comment 4 Michael Herger 2008-06-23 05:15:20 UTC
change 21040

- add link to SN settings
- change layout to improve readability of the error message

I didn't change the message itself, as this would require another round-trip to the translators. Feel free to do this for 7.2.
Comment 5 Chris Owens 2008-07-16 18:17:20 UTC
James, As soon as we're done with 7.1, could you please include the error message so that I can make a judgment on how it needs to be changed. Thanks.
Comment 6 Blackketter Dean 2008-07-17 04:20:31 UTC
If the basic meaning hasn't changed, there's no reason that we can't fix the English and German language strings for 7.1 and let the others trickle down when the translators get to it.
Comment 7 James Richardson 2008-07-17 15:54:49 UTC
OK, this appears to have been Partialy address automagicaly. Using 7.1-21796, now the message is different. See attached image for SqueezeCenter example.

The player UI for SB2/3, TP and Jive all say "A squeezeNetwork Accoutn is required for this servers, please access <a href="settings/index.html?activPage......"

Which is clearly NOT a good user experience.

James: did you open a separate bug for the player/controller UI problem?

I'd like to slightly reword this text:

A SqueezeNetwork account is needed. Visit the SqueezeNetwork tab in SqueezeCenter settings with your web browser.
Comment 10 Michael Herger 2008-07-18 04:55:39 UTC
reverted change 21040 in change 21864

QA to verify if this message is still confusing in 7.2. Due to translation issues this may be slow to fix, but we will keep at it.
Comment 13 James Richardson 2008-08-04 13:58:56 UTC
Looks good on Player UI (SBC - SB 2/3 - TP) in supported languages
Comment 14 James Richardson 2008-12-15 12:33:46 UTC
This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.0 release version of SqueezeCenter!

Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html if you haven't already.

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
