Description Bryan Alton 2008-04-23 00:20:33 UTC
Users have a lot of different preference as to how a clock/alarm should behave after snooze button is pushed such as:
* set a second alarm with music/tone after a specific delay
* no more alarms but show clock for a period
* display clock or display music info etc while snoozing.
* after snoozing turn off.

If there is a new screensaver setting specific to Snooze mode , it will be easier to add a variety of behaviour to a screensaver designed for snooze mode without making the other screen saver more complex (especially for other SBR/SB3/Transport users). It will also allow facilitate development of user "snooze" specific screensavers.

I would also think it would be useful to have a "snooze" and "sleep" icon displayed when in snooze or "sleep in x mins" mode - rather like the "bell" when alarm is set.

How does a screensaver setting address issues such as:
* set a second alarm with music/tone after a specific delay
* no more alarms but show clock for a period
* after snoozing turn off.

The new alarm code (https://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/slim/7.2/private-branches/boom-new-alarm/) adds the ability to set the screensaver that is pushed into during an alarm. Do we need a separate call to specify the snooze saver as well? It would be easy enough to add, but I'm not convinced by the need right now.

Dean notes he'd like to go ahead and ship this one before really sweating this feature. There is some interest for this among the staff, though, so it shouldn't stop you if you wanted to do it, Max. :)

Not taking, I'm afraid. It's trivial to have the alarm code do a different screensaver for a snooze, and I'd be happy to do that. The harder bit is the actual pref and associated ui, not to mention the rationale behind it. I'll leave that bit to you guys.

Unless we get some really vocal pushback on this, let's punt this enhancement to 7.3

Is the idea here that we'd have a special snooze-only screensaver or the ability to choose between screensavers at snooze time?
Comment 5 James Richardson 2008-10-29 10:44:44 UTC
Dean, is this still something we want to do?
Comment 6 Blackketter Dean 2008-10-29 11:06:40 UTC
Given all the scrutiny in the Alarm so far, I think we've got a good solid solution. I propose we "don't fix" this. Reopen if you disagree.
