Bugzilla – Bug 7942
Albums not sorted by album name in either Web UI or on SqueezeBox
Last modified: 2008-04-22 16:56:43 UTC
This bug seems to affect both the Web user interface and the user interface presented via a Squeezebox hence I selected "Database" as the component. From the SqueezeCentre web interface, if I choose Home -> Albums the album list appears to be presented in the order the tracks appear in the filesystem rather than sorted by album name as I would expect. This does not change if I use the small drop down list at the bottom left of the screen and make sure 'Album' is selected under 'Sort by...'. If I select 'Artist, Album' from that drop down list sorting works correctly (by Artist, Album). Although I can not see an equivalent of this drop down list on the Squeezebox itself the strange sort behaviour remains. If I choose 'Music Folder -> Album' to browse by album the album names are displayed but not in order. I have tried clearing the database and re-scanning and this does not help. I am not sure how much difference it makes but the underlying filesystem is ReiserFS which means the order of files returned by the opendir/readdir/closedir depends on the hash function rather than the order the files were added to the directory so this may have the effect of exposing this bug. There software versions according to the status display are as follows: SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0.1 - 18976 @ Mon Apr 21 05:44:20 PDT 2008 - Debian - EN - iso-8859-1 Perl Version: 5.8.8 x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi MySQL Version: 5.0.51a-3 Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux
This is a bug in MySQL 5.0.45-5.0.51. Reportedly fixed with 5.0.52 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 6748 ***
