Description Max Spicer 2008-04-20 02:49:29 UTC
It would occasionally be useful to be able to tell a knob push apart from a right button push. The same is true with the transporter. Ideally, a default mapping would map a knob push to right, but it should be possible to override this. Very like the handling of the snooze button / sleep button.

Rationale - sometimes it makes sense to be able to push the knob to apply a change. Pressing right to apply a change goes against the standard ui.

Max: can you give a more specific example? I can't think of one.

My specific case was the song scanner plugin. When using the knob to select a new position, it makes sense to be able to click it to apply that change. However, in the same situation it does not make sense for right to apply the change - right should trigger a bounce animation.

I'll disagree with you here, I think that RIGHT and push should have the same behavior which is to exit the mode.

Ok, but make sure you've tried using the knob in this way - it seemed very natural to me!

I've been using the new song scanner that Alan updated. Works great.

Dean or Brian can target this if they want to.

I think we're good now.
