Scanner log

Downloaded latest nightly (apr-8) and did a clear and full rescan. Appeared to complete but might have been missing albums (numbers weren't correct). No artwork.

Shutdown SC, cleared SC logs, and added albums to MusicIP then restarted SC. SC auto-started scanning. Got errors and restarted by itself. Got errors again and restarted again - seems to be cycling. I will attach log files from scanner and server.

I think that the latest changes have been put into the build because I can get to the settings/advanced/Music IP page again.

Please shut down SC, wipe your cache/MySQL folder, and try again. And upload a full log, not only short snippets. The most important parts often are right before or after the many repeated messages.

Those were the entire log files. I shutdown SC and deleted them. Restarted and scanned. Those were the entire file contents - although the scan was still repeating when I sent it so additonal loops would have been reported later.
I will give the cache clearing a try tonight. Should I change any logging settings as well - they are probably at the default now since I haven't changed anything after installing?

Yes, please set all scan.* logging options to debug.

first attached log is the symptom of anti-virus interference, btw.
Comment 6 Doug Williams 2008-04-18 11:11:44 UTC
I do have anti-virus (McAfee) running on this box. Is there a doc. somewhere on what needs to be done to get around it? I've not run SC on this box before with this config. - on my XP box I have Norton AV and I don't remember ever having to do anything specific to get SC and MIP connected. I'll do a quick test tonight with AV turned off to see if that clears it up. THANKS!

McAfee indeed is well known to lock access to *.my* files (thanks kdf!). Just tell it _not_ to scan these files.
Comment 8 Doug Williams 2008-04-18 18:12:19 UTC
I'm on Windows Vista and I can't find a file with that pattern anywhere. Would it be called something else in Windows Vista? What folder would it be in - my version of McAfee (from comcast) only lets you skip folders, apparently. Thanks.
Comment 9 Doug Williams 2008-04-19 07:29:14 UTC
Turning off anti-virus corrected the issue, but I had to turn off the entire thing for the duration of the scan. I'll have to research more to figure out what specifically it blocking where here.
Comment 10 Michael Herger 2008-04-21 00:24:19 UTC
The file would very likely be in one of Windows temp folders. You should see it from the server.log file where it's shown in one of the failure messages.

Thanks for keeping us informed.

Reduce number of active targets for SC
