Bugzilla – Bug 7828
Allow access to password-protected podcasts
Last modified: 2009-09-15 17:49:09 UTC
I listen to a couple podcasts that are on membership sites (e.g. the Never Not Funny Primo podcast). These require simple authentication with a username and password. iTunes and my podcatcher software (RSS Radio) both allow for passwords to be entered and saved in the user interface so that I can access this content. I would like it if I could set usernames and passwords for these podcasts in SqueezeCenter (and SqueezeNetwork for people who use that) so that I can listen to them on my Squeezebox.
Steve, do you see in the process of downloading the file there is a URL that contains this username and password? Can you just paste that complete URL into Squeezecenter as the URL. This might work for some podcasts.
Try entering the podcast as http://user:password@...
I have tried this already, and the issue is that while this username and pw lets you see the feed, the info you've encoded isn't passed along to the feed's enclosures, so I still get a 401 error when trying to access an audio file.
Yeah that's what I was afraid of. We'll have to leave this for 7.1.
We will review this and see if it gets more comments or votes.
An audio stream requires a username and password: http://live.str3am.com:2530/secure.m3u it must be authenticated How can i get this added to the list of accounts in squeezecenter so I can listen to it through my squeezebox boom or duet? I need a password and username for last.fm and live365. I would like to add www.mojaradio.com to the list. Who should be contacted at logitech to make this happen? ken nero & thanks!
also, add secure streams that require authentication; for example, http://livecast.str3am.com:2530/secure
