Description Henry Denander 2008-04-13 23:07:28 UTC
This is on the nightly 18702.
I can't get the web interface to play the tracks where I have "å,ä,ö" or characters like "&" or "'" in the folder name, trying to play from the Music folder page. They show up in the list but nothing happens when I click. If I change the folder name (but leave the special characters in the tags) the file will play.

Henry - a few more questions:

- they show up, but don't play?
- are you using importers like iTunes or MusicIP?
- Are you using cue sheets or something?
- have they been working in SC 7.0? Or in the 7.0.x branch?
- what are the exact server details as found on Settings->Status?

Also please set logging for player.source to debug, try to play such a song and upload the resulting server.log

working with umlauts

Could you please provide the details from Settings->Status? This definitely works for me: just tested on a Windows XP box (see screenshot: umlaut and ' in the file path).

Michael notes that this may be related to transcoding, but is waiting for feedback from the user.
Comment 4 Michael Herger 2008-04-15 23:24:12 UTC
Henry - any news?
Comment 5 Henry Denander 2008-04-16 00:09:02 UTC
Michael, sorry i've been toooo busy here with work. Now, please tell me exactly what I should do to supply info, where shall I look, what shall I do....
Best wishes/Henry
PS I realise when I start (by clicking the squeezecenter.exe file in the Server folder - a window opens up like in DOS....is this correct for the beta maybe?

Thanks, yes, that's what I was asking for in the last question. What about the other four?

- songs show up, but don't play?
- are you using importers like iTunes or MusicIP?
- Are you using cue sheets or something?
- have they been working in SC 7.0? Or in the 7.0.x branch?
Comment 9 Henry Denander 2008-04-16 00:37:46 UTC
- songs show up, but don't play? YES. When I click on the album nothing happens, in the Music Folder view.
- are you using importers like iTunes or MusicIP? NO
- Are you using cue sheets or something? NO
- have they been working in SC 7.0? Or in the 7.0.x branch? NO, I don't think so... And this is the first nightly I tried.

Excuse me, I thought I had answered these.
Best
---Henry

One more thing: could you please set logging for all scan.* options (Settings->Advanced->Logging) to debug and do a full wipe and rescan. Then upload the scanner.log to this bug report. Thanks!
Comment 11 Henry Denander 2008-04-16 01:53:15 UTC
Michael,
Done but the web page that's supposed to show the report is just blank....

Please search "c:\documents and settings\all users" (or whatever the profile folder for your system is) for scanner.log. Is it still empty?

What file format are you using?
Comment 13 Chris Owens 2008-04-16 09:42:06 UTC
For my own info: Michael thinks this may have something to do with the behavior of transcoding.
Comment 14 Michael Herger 2008-04-16 09:53:39 UTC
change 18822 - don't utf8 decode custom artwork file names (coverArt)

You'll have to remove the custom artwork setting, restart SC and define it again. Please give it a try! Thanks.

Ouch, wrong bug...
Comment 16 Chris Owens 2008-04-18 09:39:41 UTC
Any update, Henry?
Comment 17 Michael Herger 2008-05-06 07:11:41 UTC
Henry - feel free to re-open this bug if you can still reproduce it with the latest nightly build. Thanks.
Comment 18 James Richardson 2008-07-15 15:58:27 UTC
I have not been able to reproduce this in 7.1-21761, marking bug as verified
Comment 19 Chris Owens 2009-07-31 10:19:31 UTC
Reduce number of active targets for SC
