Description Marc Sherman 2005-01-12 10:32:12 UTC
When saving a playlist, it would be better to use relative paths from the
playlist file to the song files, instead of absolute.

That way, if the music library is mounted in a different location on another
computer (such as via samba on a windows client), the playlist files are still
useful.

This applies to playlists created using the web ui, as well as on the squeezebox
with the Save Playlist plugin.

Playlists are saved in a separate folder from where the music resides, making relative playlists difficult.

I suppose I should have replied to this a year ago... :) It could be an option, that is only enabled if a relative path from the playlist folder to the music folder is calculable. This will always be true on a linux/mac platform, and will be true on windows iif the two folders are on the same drive.

Seems reasonable for it to be an option in the manner you suggest. Here's the real impetus - my SB is only one way I play my music. I'd like the ability to play the same playlists from other computers attached to the same lan using regular music player software. So whether I load the playlist via SlimServer, via Windows UNC path, NFS mount, or HTTP, relative paths owuld allow the playlist to be useful (given the restrictions you cite).

Dean doesn't work here any more :)

Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
