Bugzilla – Bug 7795
fix layout of volume area
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:16:25 UTC
When adjusting the volume, the volume UI shows only the bar and how much it's filled. Directly below that can we add a small, simple number between 0 and 100, just like our players' display.
Dean, what's your opinion here? If you like this idea, where should the number go in the volume UI layout?
Dan: can you explain the motiviation for this? Is this a customer complaint or just an idea you came up with?
My idea. I realized I miss the number from always using the Squeezebox UI. Also, on the Squeezebox 3 the graphic indicating where the volume is set is much, much wider allowing for easier reading. On the Controller, pixels are limited and it's harder to get a sense where the volume is set. A number would solve that.
Noah: i think it's reasonable to consider making the volume bar a bit thicker and the position indicator more visible. It _is_ hard to see. I'd like to see that done first before we add numbers. Noah: Can you consider this as we're updating the UI?
Ping, Noah, these bugs are assigned to you for 7.3/Falco

Let's correct the spacing and alignment first and then evaluate any addition tweaks to the artwork. Please see attached reference guide for correct alignment and spacing. In the current UI the volume text is not centered top to bottom and the progress bar is shifted too far to the right making the speaker icons appear uncentered.
Assigning to Ben to tweak the layout. Noah: Thanks for the effort, but notice that this bug was set for release 8.0, so it wasn't pressing now.
Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the single original product.
