Bugzilla – Bug 7717
Entering in WPA Password values hard to see
Last modified: 2008-12-15 11:56:29 UTC
During setup and entering in the password, the position to enter your character is designated by a solid block character. It's very difficult to see the character you're entering in. Brian suggests using an underscore character to designate the position you're to enter the character. Seen on version 2 firmware.
I've noticed it's the same box on a SB3 but much lighter "cursor". It's OK on an SB3, but much too bright on a Boom.
Sean: Can you give me a hint to where in code the brightness of the four shades is handled? Thanks
I agree with this. Also, the narrowness of the font is a little problematic when entering special characters like | ] [ { } etc. Another issue is that the 2nd line, with the WPA key, 'bounces' unnecessarily when you're entering a character at the far right. I can see by the displayed line above that the position of the character isn't actually located at the furtherst right side of the screen, yet the line shifts around. With the very narrow fonts being used on the Boom, it might be beneficial to consider implementing bug 3450 to make key entry easier.
Brightness and greyscale levels adjusted in firmware. (r4184 - fw 6)
Looks good to me.
