Bugzilla – Bug 7689
switch to digital input via Favourite is broken
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:29:02 UTC
Summary: Toslink digital input when configured as Favourite fails. How to reproduce: 1. Add Toslink digital input as Favourite (from "digital inputs" menu choose Toslink digital input so it'd start playing, then press "now playing", press "right", choose "add favourite") 2. Go to list of Favorites (web interface), and assign "optical S/pdif toslink" on button on remote, e.g. on "0" zero 3. Press and hold "0" button on remote 4. TP should switch to toslink input (TP display shows: Now Playing "Optical S/PDIF (toslink)"), so let it play for 2-3 minutes 5. For the sake of test, I have Shoutcase radio station configured on Favourite 1 as http://213.186.41.149:8040/ 6. Press and hold "1" to start Shoutcast playing. Let it play for 10-15 minutes (it's good soulful house radio from uk :-) It's strange, but it is important to leave TP playing for these 10-15 minutes. 7. Press and hold "0" button. Transporter led blinks with "source:toslink"... 8. ...TP display shows: Now playing "Nothing" (instead of full name of the digital input as described in p.4). Nothing happens, no sound from Toslink -- Transporter looks stopped. Going to Toslink via Digital inputs menu item activates Toslink input with no problem. (as soon as you do this, "0" favourite starts to work properly, but again, for a limited time only). The same result if you try to play favourite from web interface. However, going to Digital Inputs and selecting Toslink foform there works fine. Sometimes (after 4-5 switches to digital input and back), TP fails to play Shoutcast (or any music from library as well) after switch back from Digital input -- it shows like it's playing Now Playing "Shoutcast stream", but remains silent, until I turn Digital input on and then off again. But I guess it's another issue, which also bothers me. This test was done several times: when there's signal on toslink and when there's no signal, results were the same. It does a little sound strange, but if you follow the steps, you'll be able to reproduce. If you fail to reproduce, let me know what logging to turn on and I'll send the logs. Eugene

Sean: is this addressed in your fixes for 7.1?
Sean says this is either fixed in 42 or it's a SqueezeCenter bug. QA to try to reproduce with the latest 7.1 beta.
bump... QA please have a look
