Description Michael Herger 2008-04-01 01:03:08 UTC
We're seeing reports in the forums of Mac users failing to run SC on OSX 10.4/5. It looks as if it wouldn't start if installed for the user only, and not for all users.

QA - can you please verify this?

This sounds to me like there are remnants of previous SqueezeCenter/SlimServer files on these systems. Whenever I have experienced something along these lines removing SqueezeCenter/SlimServer files and reinstalling solved the problem.

These are all the paths that I am aware of:

For SqueezeCenter I believe the paths are:
- Home > Library > Application Support > SqueezeCenter Folder
-  Home > Library > PreferencePanes > SqueezeCenter.prefPane
-  Home > Library > Caches > SqueezeCenter folder
-  Home > Library > Preferences > com.slim.*
-  Macintosh HD > Library > PreferencePanes > SqueezeCenter.prefPane (may or
may not exist)

For SlimServer I believe the paths are:
* home -> Library -> SlimDevices
* home -> Library -> PreferencePanes -> SlimServer.prefPane
* home -> Library -> Caches -> SlimServer
* home -> Library -> Preferences -> com.slim*
* hard disk -> Library -> SlimDevices (may or may not exist)
* hard disk -> Library -> PreferencePanes -> SlimServer.prefPane (may or may
not exist)

Perhaps the installer should be updated to remove some or all of these files during an install or upgrade.

What do you think Michael?

Steven to confer with Dan to see how big an issue it is.
Comment 3 Spies Steven 2008-06-19 09:13:39 UTC
I have not been able to reproduce.

Dan, have you seen a trend concerning this issue in support?

Michael, while I am thinking about it, how difficult would it be to build a script or executable that would remove all SlimServer/SqueezeCenter files from a Mac system? I would find it quite handy.
Comment 4 Dan Evans 2008-06-19 13:28:58 UTC
We have had no reports in Support on this issue.

Regarding Steven's request for a script to remote files... we certainly know where all our files have been installed past and present. Shouldn't be too crazy hard?
Comment 5 Chris Owens 2008-06-23 10:24:19 UTC
Please reopen if there's an issue with this.
Comment 6 Chris Owens 2009-07-31 10:18:58 UTC
Reduce number of active targets for SC

Closing resolved bugs - if you feel this bug still exists please first re-test
with the latest SW/FW version. If you are able to reproduce then feel free to
reopen and attach new logs / steps to reproduce.
