Bugzilla – Bug 7611
Boom fonts need tweaking
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:20:42 UTC
The second line strings, like Music Library, or SqueezeNetwork should have a smaller font for default font. Using the current smaller font is too small, so it should be approximately 3/4 of the way between the two. It should at least fit the entire word "SqueezeNetwork".
In Settings->Text Size, the default text is called "standard", with options for "light" and "full". Standard is a little too big, as stated in the above comment. But "full" is way too big, and probably tuned for a SB3 display. "light" is the right size, but looks like a bold font on the Boom display. Would suggest some tuning of that font to look less bold.

Let's start with unique boom-specific fonts with smaller inter-letter spaces, then tweak from there.
Added code to the Boom branch which overwrites the interspace read from fonts file to be only one pixel for small displays.
Actually, I think we'll need a separate font file for boom. Can you implement this?
I reverted the 1 pixel interspace change in SC7 and added narrow fonts for Boom to tweak (standard_n.1, standard_n.2, light_n.1, light_n.2 and full_n.2). Make sure to delete the server prefs file to force SC7 to reload the fonts.
fw3. The small and middle sized fonts look pretty good. I think the large font's space character could be a little wider so that words are more separated.
Just checked in the tweaked double-height font to increase the space character a bit. Looks good. Please reopen if you see any other issues.
