Description Kevin Pearsall 2005-01-03 15:23:24 UTC
I will attach two files, one is a .WAV that plays the left channel only. The
other is a WMA with which the Squeezebox plays out the left channel in both
channels...

File is suspect. I can play them in WMP or Musicmatch through remote desktop,
but both the WAV and the WMA play in mono in this configuration, so I'm not
100% sure if the conversion didn't cause a problem here (on top of the real
problem)

Downgrading - this isn't a P1/Critical

The problem seems to lie with the changes made to WMADEC between 5.3.1 and
5.4.0. Using WMADEC from 5.4.0 onwards causes every WMA lossless track in my
library (about 5000 tracks) to play in mono.
Simply replacing WMADEC with the version from 5.3.1 gives stereo again.
Apparently 5.4.x changed WMADEC to allow WMA mono to be played out of
both channels (by mirroring the signal from the left channel into to both the
left & right channels)
It looks like WMADEC is doing this with stereo WMA lossless as well - and the
left channel input signal is playing out both output channels. Hope this helps
trace the problem.

Routine bug db maintenance; removing old versions which cause confusion. I apologize for the inconvenience.
