Description radish 2008-03-24 08:46:02 UTC
SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0.1 - 17825 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252

Going right from Now Playing to the track info menu and then browsing to Album behaves differently for compilations than artist albums, for no obvious (to me!) reason.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Play a single-artist album
2) Go to Now Playing
3) Go right
4) Scroll down to Album
5) Go right
6) Note that all tracks are visible in the list
7) Repeat for a compilation and note that only the currently playing track is visible in the list

This only seems to happen in the player UI - SC7 web and SBC work as expected.

I'm not seeing this behavior. Tried it first at 17808 and then updated to latest 17971 and both list all tracks of compilation albums under Now Playing.

I just upgraded to the latest 7.0.1 nightly (17963) and still see it. Could this be a tagging/config difference? I have my compilations tagged with COMPILATION=1, and I have "Group compilation albums together" set.

FYI, I only found this due to this forum thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45166

So it's happening to at least one other person :)

Radish:

Do you have Settings > Music Library > Compilations set to: "List compilation albums under each artist" or "Group compilation albums together"
Comment 5 radish 2008-03-29 14:54:26 UTC
I have it set to "Group compilation albums together".

QA to reproduce.

Radish, could you attach one of the files exhibiting this behavior?

I attached the first 2 files of an album which shows this problem so it's more realistic. I see this on all of my compilations (hundreds of them) - both Vorbis and FLAC. I used Vorbis here as the files are smaller.

Let me know if I can provide any more info.

I think I may have been mistaken in my previous comment. I might have been looking at the track list of the playlist rather than the album's tracks.

What I'm seeing now, though, is different than described. It doesn't show just the currently playing track - it shows all tracks by that particular artist that are on the album. In other words, it's a filtered track list by artist, same as you'd see browsing VA albums by Artist/Album. You need a compilation on which an artist appears more than once to realize this.

Good spot! I can confirm the same thing here.
Comment 13 Chris Owens 2008-04-16 09:55:22 UTC
Too complex for 7.0.1.
Comment 14 Andy Grundman 2010-07-27 05:38:28 UTC
onebrowser should address this.
Comment 15 Alan Young 2011-01-13 02:48:43 UTC
This seems to be working fine in 7.6 trunk, although I am not sure why. Tested with Player, SP and Web UIs
Comment 16 Paul Chandler 2011-05-09 08:57:53 UTC
Added compilation album including a few tracks by the same arttist.
Playlist and now-playing look correct.
