Closing apostrophe character in news feed crashes slimserver
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:22:26 UTC
The close-apostrophe () character will crash slimserver when it is found in an RSS feed, as in today's Rollingstone.com music news: Post-punks classic lineup reunites for spring shows I have tried to capture relevant debug info below. This appears to be a UDF character which I suppose should be ignored. I don't know whether this should be corrected in the RSS plugin or in a core module. Debug info: Wide character in print at /usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Utils/Misc.pm line 696. 2004-12-31 14:13:39.4974 vfdUpdate european line1: RollingStone.com Music News line2: Gang of Four Return -- Post-punks 2004-12-31 14:13:39.5013 sending squeezebox frame: vfdc, length: 176 2004-12-31 14:13:39.5038 writeNoBlock: writing a segment of length: 182 Wide character in syswrite at /usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Networking/Select.pm line 164. 2004-12-31 14:13:39.5063 Got to the END. 2004-12-31 14:13:39.5086 Got sigint. 2004-12-31 14:13:39.5107 SlimServer cleaning up.
Dave, can you take a look at this?
Dave: has this been addressed?
I'm unable to reproduce the problem in the 6.0 server. Here's a feed I'm testing with, it has both forward and backward apostrophes. http://svcdev.slimdevices.com:8080/rss/test.xml PS - sorry for the delayed response
Resolving as unreproduceable. If this bug is reprodeceable, please let me know. Thx, -Dave
