Description Itsik Ben-Laish 2008-03-21 03:36:01 UTC
Hi,
I will start by saying that all of the following problems were not present in SlimServer 6.5.4

Another issue is that it is best to show the bugs by sending screen shots but I could not do it here - is there a way to do it?

Problem 1: When going to "Music Library" -> "Artists" (but it is true anywhere elese as well), you have an A B C bar that allows you to quickly browse your library. All non english characters (such as hebrew alphbet) are not displyed and they all sit under the "?" sign that is displayed

Problem 2: When you stand on any row (for instance on an album name row) 3 buttons appear on the right-side of the row (these are the Add to Afvorites, Play and Add to playlist buttons). When the row is in hebrew, the buttons appear vertiaccly and at the lest side of the row (right on the name itself). The problem is that when trying to press a button you have to move your cursor down so you actually move to the next row. Result: You can not do anything! This is also true for the Edit button on the Favorites so once you've entered a favorite, you can not do anything on it.

Problem 3: On some of the names (Tags not folder names which are OK) in hebrew you get jibrish and on some you get clear hebrew.

Problem 4: When you create a Favorite with hebrew name, sometimes the hebrew name gets truncated (maybe because I used " inside but in another hebrew name with " inside all was OK)

That's it.

     Thanks,
        Itsik

From the screenshot I assume you're using SC with the language set to English, but browsing a Hebrew music collection?

Yes

What browser are you using? Is it running on a Hebrew or English Windows?

Ok, I should probably have gone through all of these in detail before. First of all: did you try a recent SC 7.0.1 nightly build? I've added a bunch of changes which should fix some of the encoding related issues.

I've never seen this happen. And I have no idea why it should do so. IMHO the rtl flag is only set if you're using Hebrew as SC's language. Will need some files to reproduce.

Wallace - can you reproduce? Could you please provide me with some test files?

Very likely a tagging issue. Would you mind uploading two songs to this bug? One which shows correctly, one which doesn't?

Also: how have these files been tagged?

As mentioned above 7.0.1 has some fixes regarding non-latin character encoding. Could you please give it a try?

That's bug 4851 - though you say you didn't see this in 6.5.x, while 4851 had been reported first for 6.5.2

Hi,
Some updates:

Problem #1 seems solved with the 7.0.1 build

Problem #2, Is there any additional information I can provide?

Problem #3: I've uploaded 2 files. one OK and one jibrish (in the Artist name only). I have verified the tags with Windows Media Player and even re-edited them with mp3tag and this did not help.

Problem #4: I was not able to reproduce with 7.0.1

   Best Regards,
      Itsik

Hi,
I've rescanned my library with 7.0.1 and it also solved problem #3. Great!

So, the only remaining problem is #2

   Best Regards,

Great news! Thanks. I'll then concentrate on #2

Re: the pdf you uploaded: the quality is pretty poor, can't see anything. Would you mind uploading just the small upper left part needed to recognize the issue in better quality? Thanks!
Comment 15 Michael Herger 2008-03-28 04:43:10 UTC
I tested #2 with FF2/3, Opera, Safari and IE6/7/8: only IE7/8 show this misbehaviour. All of the others I've tested display the page correctly (as far as I can read Hebrew :-)), even IE6. So I assume you're using IE7? Any chance using a different browser?...

Didn't find a fix/workaround for this issue so far. <bdo>, dir=ltr, direction:ltr etc. all didn't work.
Comment 16 Michael Herger 2008-03-28 05:41:17 UTC
Itsik - after some more testing I've found a workaround for this issue. Please update to tomorrow's nightly (or svn up, if you're using subversion).

change 18104 - wrap content in div with overflow defined
