Description Michael Herger 2008-03-17 08:16:12 UTC
In the above thread French Duet users are complaining about the inability to configure Receiver, if Controller is configured to use the French region for WLAN setup. Selecting Europe seems to fix the issue for them. Controller connects fine.
Comment 1 Felix Mueller 2008-03-17 08:49:26 UTC
I suggest to either removing 'France' as a separate wireless region (since it's the same now as for Europe) or when leaving it in just internally use the same setting as for Europe.

BTW: Selecting 'France' on a SB3 works fine with channel 2 and 11, so I guess it's a mapping issue between SBC and SBR.
Comment 2 Richard Titmuss 2008-03-17 09:08:14 UTC
Ok, so I may have fixed this already on SB. Does the UI code in setup on SB3 set the same region code for France and Europe?
Comment 3 Felix Mueller 2008-03-17 09:57:18 UTC
No. Setup code in SB sets 'ETSI1_WORLD' for Europe and 'ETSI3_WORLD' for France.

In ah_regdomain.c they are defined as follows:
'ETSI1_WORLD' = 0x37
'ETSI3_WORLD' = 0x36

Richard: Is that something you are going to fix on SBCs side?
Comment 5 Richard Titmuss 2008-03-27 09:51:55 UTC
I can fix this on the controller, but reviewing the code as far as i can tell that both squeezebox setup and controller setup will set the same region value in the squeezebox firmware. does it really work if you choose france during setup?
Comment 6 Felix Mueller 2008-03-31 03:34:52 UTC
I am not completely clear what the restrictions in France have been in the past. I found some information on the internet that France only allowed channel 4. Is that correct?

To answer your question. Yes, if I chose France during setup I can connect to my two APs, one running on channel 2 and the other on channel 11.
Comment 7 Richard Titmuss 2008-03-31 03:37:07 UTC
Ok, so what region value does the SB use during setup in the nvram? Jive sets a value of 13 for France, and from reading the SB firmware code I think SC uses the same value? I don't understand how they are different?
Comment 8 Felix Mueller 2008-03-31 03:54:08 UTC
We were looking in the wrong direction. It's not what region we set in SBR for that matter, but choosing France on SBC does not list SBR at all in Set Up Receiver.

Here is how to reproduce:

- Put SBR into setup mode
- Use a SBC and set Wireless Region to anything but France (or Japan)
- Go into Set Up Receiver -> SBR is listed
- Go back and change Wireless Region to France
- Now the Set Up Receiver list is empty (or at least the entry is removed after a short while)

BTW: Japan is also affected

Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks, I'll take this one.
