Description Osama Zaidan 2008-03-10 18:40:29 UTC
Two Customers are having the following problem with the Duet controller;

they can get the Duet receiver to connect to SqueezeCenter by using the web interface, selecting the player, and connecting it to SqueezeCenter. But, they can't connect to SqueezeCenter using the remote controller. Once the receiver is connected to SqueezeCenter and playing music, they can't see it with the remote controller, they can only see it when it's connected to squeezenetwork.

This is 100% reproducible on my system. All players SB2, SB3 and a new Receiver work fine through the web interface but the Controller cannot see any of the players (in the "Choose Player" menu nothing shows up). The Controller was factory reset and updated to r2090.

I am able to run tests and experiment if you have trouble duplicating the bug.

Moving from the old 'jive hardware' product to the new 'Squeezebox Controller' product.

Joe:

Can you get us a log from the SB Controller please? That may help us diagnose the issue.

I was curious what mac and ip address the Controller is reporting and the ip address of the server and other players.

Is it possible that the controller is on a different subnet causing this behavior?
Comment 5 Joe Buccino 2008-03-12 10:33:54 UTC
SqueezeCenter is accessible at 192.168.1.100
SBR has the address 192.168.1.130
SBC has the address 192.168.1.116
An SB3 has the address 192.168.1.112

Where can I find the log for the SB Controller?

Mickey may have posted a solution to this issue on the forums and I did not think to ask.

Has anyone tried selecting a different Music Source on the Controller?

Mickey's post can be found her:

When I try to select either the local source or Squeeze Network nothing happens. I go to the "Select Source" menu and when I click on either source nothing happens.

Pinging the controller still works fine.

All players still work through the web interface. I'm really getting frustrated.

I found the problem thanks to rtitmuss. I had password protection enabled on the server. I turned it off and everything is working fine now on all three players. I did not see this limitation anywhere in the documentation - did I miss it? Perhaps a more prominent notice on the Advanced Settings->Security page is in order...

Appears this is a dupe of an old bug 5887. marking this one as a duplicate, TS will need to be aware of this limitation on SBController. Maybe make a FAQ listing on the Wiki page to cover it. Re-Assigning this one to DAN E.
