Description Wallace Lai 2008-03-04 13:18:33 UTC
Important Note:
This is an issue on Rhapsody's page. However, this is blocking Jive new users to stream from Rhapsody.

Setting: Tried this on 3 different PCs, Win 2K, Win XP, IE6, IE7, and FireFox. No "I AGREE" button whatsoever.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go toe SqueezeNetwork.com and setup a new account.
2. Connect Jive and Ray to SN. Both of them have not be onto SN before.
3. A PIN appears in Jive.
4. Enter the PIN on SN to add new player.
5. After that, on Jive, go to Home->Music Services->Rhapsody.
6. Two items appear on Jive's screen. One is for existing user. The other one asks user to start the 30 days trial.
7. Click the second one to start 30 days trial.
8. The next page tells users to go to "offer.rhapsody.com/squeezebox/terms".
9. Go to that web page. It says "BY CLICKING THE "I AGREE" BUTTON YOU ARE INDICATING THAT YOU HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT, THAT YOU UNDERSTAND IT, AND THAT YOU CONSENT TO BE BOUND BY ALL OF ITS TERMS AND CONDITIONS.".
10. The understanding is, once user agrees with the terms, Jive will show the "XX days left for trial period" message. Jive and start accessing Rhapsody.
11. Problem is, there is no "I AGREE" button on the page. On Jive, the user can go no further toward Rhapsody.

Work Around:
None found.

If anyone has any work around, or has seen this works, please state it here.
Comment 2 Chris Owens 2008-03-04 18:13:41 UTC
The workaround (and probably the fix) is to direct the user to http://www.squeezenetwork.com/user/account/rhapsody instead, where there are proper instructions, including a link to the terms and conditions.

I think Wallace's bug is valid, and it could be frustrating for an end user to get sent to a disclaimer from which it's not clear what to do next. Or am I missing something?

Comment 3 Andy Grundman 2008-03-04 21:06:24 UTC
Well, you are supposed to select 'Accept' to start the free trial without visiting any webpage.

The text is: "Get unrestricted access to millions of songs. Start listening now! Terms and conditions at offer.rhapsody.com/squeezebox/terms"

This is the exact text the Rhapsody guys wanted on the display.
Comment 4 Chris Owens 2008-03-04 21:39:22 UTC
But there is no way from the Jive interface to actually act on the term sheet. The customer is at a dead end if they follow the instructions on their Jive screen. Once we get our current issues ironed out with Seth I will bring this up with him.
Comment 5 Andy Grundman 2008-03-04 21:52:34 UTC
The same is true from the player UI, but I don't think it has been an issue in the past.
Comment 6 Wallace Lai 2008-03-05 08:41:40 UTC
The http://www.squeezenetwork.com/user/account/rhapsody link leads to http://www.squeezenetwork.com/user/login. However, the new user had already logged into SN and received an account already.

We need to put the work around in the wiki. This is one of things that may frustrate some new users.
Comment 7 Chris Owens 2008-03-05 13:11:16 UTC
Seth at Rhapsody notes we should allow users to accept the terms and conditions from the Jive UI. Is this possible, Andy?
Comment 8 Andy Grundman 2008-03-05 14:09:43 UTC
We do! The Accept menu item.
Comment 9 Wallace Lai 2008-03-05 14:46:04 UTC
Reproduced this bug for Andy to debug. The problem turns out is this: There should be an "Accept" menu item on the Jive screen. However, Jive cannot have the wrapped text and menu item on that page. The "Accept" item is not showing up for users to click.
Andy is fixing this.
Comment 10 Wallace Lai 2008-03-05 14:50:04 UTC
Andy fixed the problem. He put two menu items on the Jive screen. One is "Terms and Conditions", and the other is "Accept".
Comment 11 Wallace Lai 2008-03-05 15:07:35 UTC
Verified the fix. It works.
However, regression test did show one minor issue. After clicking "Accept", Jive shows the user the trial period had started. If the user press the center button on Jive, it brings up a page says "Empty". It should go to first page of "Rhapsody" at that time.
Instead, user must press the "Home" button, then "Music Services", then "Rhapsody" to get there. That is not convinient.
Chris: Should I open another bug for that?

This bug can be closed now.
