Description peter 2008-03-02 14:15:18 UTC
To long into Squeezenetwork requires a firmware upgrade. However, the require upgrade is incompatible with the currently supported version of Slimserver. So each time I switch from squeezenetwork to slimserver, a firmware upgrade is required. While I understand that the Squeezenetwork firmware maybe compatible with Squeezecenter (Slimserver 7.0), it is not currently the supported version, i.e., still beta. Having just gotten 6.5.4 to work on my linkstation, I am not about to begin the arduous task of upgrading one more time. It seems like you overlooked this "bug" in your Squeezenetwork upgrade.

You may have been required to update once to connect to SN if your local DNS setup was having problems. Once connected, if you switched back, you would have been asked to downgrade. Reconnecting to SN should not have caused another firmware upgrade.

If that's not what you are seeing, can you describe your network setup and internet service provider?

Peter: we believe this issue is related to the DNS server setting on your Squeezebox having an invalid value (or pointing at a broken DNS server). Can you verify the DNS server setting in the player itself (if you set up networking on it manually) or the DNS server being served by DHCP if you're using DHCP?
