Description Anoop Mehta 2008-02-29 16:34:57 UTC
Pandora does not display the proper information on the SB3 of what is playing.

Dan asked me to open this bug as he had a customer with this issue.

Customer stated that the information does not always match what is playing.
Comment 1 Andy Grundman 2008-02-29 16:39:22 UTC
Reproduce with SC7 and get a plugin.pandora log.
Comment 2 Dan Evans 2008-02-29 17:34:10 UTC
Customer does not use SC.
Comment 3 Chris Owens 2008-03-01 09:13:17 UTC
I have seen this. I will see if it can be reproduced on SC 7 so I can get the logs, otherwise I will coordinate with Andy so he can follow along from his end.
Comment 4 Chris Owens 2008-03-03 09:52:21 UTC
ping me
Comment 5 Chris Owens 2008-03-06 16:59:02 UTC
I suppose I need to listen to music that I recognize in order to reproduce this.
Comment 6 Andy Grundman 2008-03-14 09:13:04 UTC
Re-targetting SN 7.0.1 bugs to ABBA release.
Comment 7 Philip 2008-03-19 13:30:14 UTC
The same problem is also happening on Slacker. I have a SB3 and primarily
listen to Slacker or Pandora over the SqueezeNetwork. “Now Playing” is
consistently one to five songs behind what is actually playing on either
Slacker or Pandora. This has been going on for a couple of weeks. I updated
the firmware today (3/19/08) but still having the problem.

Could someone else in QA keep an eye out for this at some point this week? For some reason I can't get to Pandora from where I am :)
Comment 10 Hans-Peter Utikal 2008-03-24 12:22:37 UTC
The firmware version of my Squeezebox is 86.
In about 50% of the cases the title shown in Pandora is not renewed at the beginning of the next song, occasionally it hangs up for two, three ore more times. This refers only to the text, not to the indication of time played or time left and not to the progress bar. Sometimes Pandora starts already showing a wrong title. At the point of change to another song sometimes the next title is correct, sometimes not.
One main question is, if transmitting "thumb up/down" is combined with the song played or with the (wrong) title shown.

I can't reproduce this with SC7, but I can on Squeeze Network. I'm seeing it right now (5:04pm) my SB2 (00 04 20 05 CA C7) is showing Rats in the hallway by Rancid, which played a few minutes ago, but now it sounds more like the Ataris, definitely not still playing Rancid. Andy with this suffice?
Comment 12 Andy Grundman 2008-03-25 17:53:47 UTC
So nobody has seen this with SC7?
Comment 13 James Richardson 2008-03-28 13:40:01 UTC
Ross: Can you re-test with SC 7.0 & 7.0.1, provide a log file if you see the error happen.
Comment 14 Ross Levine 2008-03-28 17:01:19 UTC
I sure can try it again, James. However I should repeat I have *not* been able to reproduce with SC7.
Comment 15 Alan Hamer 2008-04-03 20:02:10 UTC
Also OS: Vista
Note: song id will slip, then correct at the end of a few songs, then eventually slip again.

Have you seen this on SqueezeCenter ? or only when attached to SqueezeNetwork?

If you have seen this on SC, please turn on DEBUG logging for plugin.pandora OR plugin.slacker (which ever you see the error on) then attach the log file to this bug. State the ~time the error occured in the log as it will be quite long.
Comment 17 Alan Hamer 2008-04-09 18:21:07 UTC
Pandora is accessed through SqueezeNetwork, only
Comment 18 collin 2008-04-09 18:23:42 UTC
The title delay started happening while listening to pandora on my sb3 after the last firmware update.

Pandora is all about new music and it is a shame the titles don't update.

thanks for your support!

Investigation seems to indicate this is related to bad network conditions.

James thinks he may be able to reproduce.
Comment 20 Mark Wright 2008-04-26 08:46:52 UTC
I've just started using Pandora today and have seen this immediately and frequently (now playing info getting unsynched for a few songs and then resynching. I don't see this behavior with Rhapsody, which I've been using about a month. I'm using a Duet and Squeezenetwork 7.0.1, and just updated the software yesterday (4/25).
Comment 21 Mark Wright 2008-04-26 08:52:43 UTC
I should add that I've just tried using Pandora with Sqeezenetwork, no squeezecenter.
Comment 22 Andy Grundman 2008-05-15 06:15:27 UTC
I made a change last night that I didn't think would affect this bug, but I can't seem to reproduce it anymore. Can you guys let me know if you're still seeing this? Chances are as soon as I post this it will happen to me though. :)
Comment 23 Andy Grundman 2008-05-15 06:35:14 UTC
OK I was wrong, it was not happening to me because I had crossfading enabled on this player. Turning off crossfade caused the problem to come back. Getting somewhere at least...
Comment 24 Andy Grundman 2008-05-16 06:45:08 UTC
I think I've found the root cause of this bug, and it has been fixed. This bug affected Pandora, Slacker, and Rhapsody Radio.

Fix is rolling out to SN over the next hour.
Comment 25 James Richardson 2008-05-19 16:20:40 UTC
Unable to replicate this issue with Andy's latest fixes.

Closing this bug now. If anyone experiences the bug again, please make sure you do NOT have the Now Playing screen saver on, as that's another bug 7888

Comment 26 James Richardson 2008-05-31 15:48:38 UTC
I noticed over the weekend, that this bug has come back. Rhapsody is consistently behind by 1 song, after playing for a bit.

I don't have a Pandora account to test with, and my Slacker account has expired.

Please investigate
Comment 27 Andy Grundman 2008-05-31 16:15:37 UTC
Slacker is free...

Argh, I really thought I had fixed this one. :(
Comment 28 Andy Grundman 2008-08-01 09:49:21 UTC
Anyone still seeing this?
Comment 29 Philip 2008-08-01 13:38:36 UTC
Andy - I have a SB3 and listen to both Pandora and Slacker and the problem seems to be fixed since May/June timeframe. I don't listen to Rhapsody.
Comment 30 James Richardson 2008-08-01 13:48:44 UTC
Using 7.1-22170 I am again unable to reproduce this error with our without the Now Playing screen saver.
Marking it fixed again until someone else has the issue.
Comment 31 James Richardson 2008-12-15 13:01:17 UTC
This bug has been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeNetwork!

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
