I had 3 foldersoim my harddisc for 1 artist (Bill Evans, Bill Evans Trio and Bill Evans 1920 - 19xx).
I moved the albums to 1 artist folder and removed the other 2.
After a rescan (delete all en make a new scan) the Squeezebox and SqueezeCenter still see 3 Artists.
I can play all albums though...

Moving locations won't change what SC reports if those file have id3 tags.  Check your id3 tags for the artist metadata.
