Description Osama Zaidan 2008-02-21 09:17:27 UTC
Operating System and Slim server:

OS: Windows XP
OS language: Swedish
Server: SqueezeCenter 7.0 - 1742

Issue:

When the customer runs the initial installation of the SqueezeCenter, he is getting the choices and options in a different language not English or Swedish. He thinks it may be in Dutch. It makes it very difficult to get the right option during the installation. This also shows up under Windows' Services and in the Starup Option menu after the installation was completed.

Set up Swedish XP and reproduce.

Osama, what was the user doing when they saw this text? Was he in the installer or actually in the Wizard or even farther along in Slimserver?

Installer defaulting to Dutch instead of English on Hungarian XP

I was able to reproduce this issue on a Hungarian Windows XP: the installer started with Dutch as default language, only offering Dutch and English in the language selector.

This should always default to English, whatever the unrecognized language is. I assume this is a bug in the installer. Will check this.

Chris, Michael describes exactly what the customer had mentioned.
However, I want to add what is really important to this customer is the way to configure SqueezeCenter to start, see the attachment. In that screenshot the customer is seeing the strange language, he does not mind if this defaults to English.

This is the same issue, it is the same application.

May I ask you not to upload Word documents? Please use .jpg or .png for screenshots. Thanks!

changing language order

Maybe it would be enough to make EN the first language in the list (instead of sorting alphabetically) to make it the default setting? If anybody wanted to give this a try... otherwise I'll do tomorrow.

From the InnoSetup documentation: "If none [language code] is found, it defaults to the first language specified in the [Languages] section." - this should confirm my patch.

Dean - I'll test this as soon as I'm back on the dev machine (where I have Hungarian, Hebrew, Chinese and other fancy Windows installations to test with). Are you fine with the change? Seems pretty simple and failsafe to me.

Confirmed working on my local Hungarian Windows. Ok to check in?
Comment 9 Blackketter Dean 2008-02-22 06:51:56 UTC
Yes, please go for it.

Fixed in change 17690.

Wallace, can you verify this fix?
