Description Spies Steven 2008-02-20 13:25:52 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
1 Start with both ray and jive with recent fw, factory reset and deleted from sn with the admin tool. I used fw 22 and 1985.
2 Connect jive and ray to your network.
3 When asked to choose a music source pick SqueezeNetwork.
4 Notice ray connects while jive waits and will eventually time out.

It did not seem to matter if I used standard wireless, standard ethernet or bridged configurations to reproduce this bug.
Comment 1 Andy Grundman 2008-02-21 07:58:21 UTC
Worked for me:

Jive 1985, Ray 22, bridged.
On Music Source screen, chose SN.
Got PIN screen, entered PIN.
Ray then connected to SN and Jive showed 'That's it' screen.

I just tried again this morning on SqueezeTest and I see the same behavior as yesterday. Ray connects and jive times out with problem connecting after selecting SqueezeNetwork. This was with standard wireless configuration.

Steven to provide a log, and continue working with Andy to understand this issue.

Jive log connecting ray to SqueezeNetwork

I was able to connect successfully the first time but not the second on SqueezeTest. This log should cover both attempts.

Jive log from failed attempt on my home network

Using jive 1985 and ray 22 at home I am seeing the same issue. Ray connects and goes dim white while jive times out. Standard wireless configuration on wep 128 wireless network.

(note: no need to zip those logs, it makes it hard to view in the browser)

Richard: can you review this log?
Comment 10 Richard Titmuss 2008-02-22 02:35:32 UTC
The relevant parts of the log are:

Jan 1 00:04:07 (none) user.info jive: (SetupSqueezeboxApplet.lua:446) - _setupInit mac=000420160805 ether=nil
...
Jan 1 00:04:08 (none) user.info jive: (Comet.lua:587) - Comet {SqueezeNetwork}: _handshake error: www.beta.squeezenetwork.com Try again
Jan 1 00:04:08 (none) user.warn jive: (Comet.lua:880) - Comet {SqueezeNetwork}: handleAdvice state=CONNECTING

It appears the Comet handshake to SN is failing for Steven. Andy, any idea what the problem is? Can you check the logs for that mac address?
Comment 11 Richard Titmuss 2008-02-22 03:49:51 UTC
Just to note I'm looking at another log from Steven for bug 7261 and I see lots of handshake errors again.
Comment 12 Andy Grundman 2008-02-22 05:22:28 UTC
That 'Try again' text, does that come from something in the Lua http code? I know jived was down a bit yesterday, might be related to that. I'll look through the logs to see if there are any handshake errors around 6pm.
Comment 13 Andy Grundman 2008-02-22 05:30:29 UTC
Found the log starting at 6:17pm yesterday for your Jive. No errors listed, but it's quite short. There is no playerRegister message. But that was right around the time jived was broken and being restarted. So I would try it again.
Comment 14 Blackketter Dean 2008-02-22 09:05:55 UTC
Andy suggests you retest, he fixed some issues on SN.
Comment 15 Spies Steven 2008-02-22 10:22:01 UTC
I am still seeing this issue. Would any other logs be helpful?
Comment 16 Wallace Lai 2008-02-22 11:57:16 UTC
Tried with 7.0 r1998. It does not connect a Ray to SN directly either.
Comment 17 Richard Titmuss 2008-02-22 15:55:03 UTC
This was a problem with the dns code in jive (following changes for bug 7086). Fixed in r2006.
Comment 18 James Richardson 2008-05-15 13:04:07 UTC
This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1

Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug.
