Description Wallace Lai 2008-02-18 10:54:15 UTC
My wife told me the scrolling sound of the Jive is ugly. The "duk duk duk" sound sounds like something is about to be broken.
Comment 1 Richard Titmuss 2008-03-11 14:23:31 UTC
bump.
Comment 2 Alan Young 2008-03-17 10:49:47 UTC
Mine hates it to, to the extent of not wanting to use it. But no audio feedback is also not acceptable.
Comment 3 Blackketter Dean 2008-03-30 22:59:48 UTC
I suspect that we can turn the default volume down even more.

Richard: Can we turn it down even lower?
Comment 4 Richard Titmuss 2008-03-31 06:27:00 UTC
We could reduce the default volume more. Wallace, Alan would this please your wifes?

I wonder if the real solution is not a new click sound. What do people find acceptable?
Comment 5 Alan Young 2008-03-31 07:22:19 UTC
It is not the volume, I can turn that down. I think it is the specific sound. Now don't ask me what would be a better sound.
Comment 6 Richard Titmuss 2008-04-07 06:23:32 UTC
Richard Boland, who did the original sounds, is going to make some alternatives for people to choose from. I suggest a vote on the forums!
Comment 7 Richard Titmuss 2008-07-24 05:06:56 UTC
punting to 7.3
Comment 8 Mickey Gee 2008-11-12 15:11:58 UTC
Can you assist, Mr. Boland? Let us know if you can provide alternative sounds within the next week or so.
Comment 9 Richard Boland 2008-11-14 09:28:06 UTC
Apologies for the delay... I'm on it.
Comment 10 Blackketter Dean 2008-11-23 12:26:58 UTC
Any news here, Richard and Richard?

Alternative Sounds
Comment 14 Richard Titmuss 2008-11-24 05:20:27 UTC
Some alternative sounds from Richard are attached. What do people think? I think I prefer the first version attached myself.

Comment 15 Wallace Lai 2008-11-24 09:00:13 UTC
Agree. click.wav from clicks_007.zip sounds happier and more upbeat.
The one from clicks_008.zip is good too, but less uplifting.
The 009 one sounds OK only.
Comment 16 Chris Owens 2008-11-24 10:11:33 UTC
QA to load up some Controllers with these sound sets and show them around for people's judgment.
Comment 17 Blackketter Dean 2008-11-24 10:21:31 UTC
Richard Boland: I noticed that some of the sounds have a small amount of silence at the beginning of the sound. This should be removed, especially for the click sound, to make it more responsive.

Wheel Click Sound - In-House Survey

Current Sound 7 Sound 8 Sound 9

   3 7 20 4

Notes:
Sound #6 was more 'mechanical'. Several people said that wheel would stick more with this sound

Sound #8 was a more 'Electronic' sound. Several people said that wheel would 'flow' better with this sound

Sound #8 was like the XBOX 360 sound (3 reports)

Dean: Which sound would you like to have set as the new default? or, should we offer more then one for people to use?
Comment 19 James Richardson 2008-12-17 13:27:46 UTC
With SC 7.3, users are now able to modify the 'sounds' on their controller. Do we need to have this bug open any more?

TO change the sound, load SC go to Settings > Advanced > Customize Controller

From there you can modify the Wallpaper or Sounds to what ever makes you happy.
Comment 20 James Richardson 2008-12-19 08:01:16 UTC
Changing target to next release
Comment 21 Chris Owens 2008-12-22 09:56:41 UTC
Didn't we reach a concensus about what sound we were going to use, Dean?
Comment 22 Blackketter Dean 2009-05-01 16:19:02 UTC
Yes, it's 8. But they should be edited to remove the silence.

Can you do this, Richard?

Comment 24 Chris Owens 2009-05-11 11:19:20 UTC
Do you want to commit this to svn, Dean?
Comment 25 Pat Ransil 2009-08-18 13:03:45 UTC
Dean - is this ready for svn? Does it need testing after that?
Comment 26 Blackketter Dean 2009-08-18 13:48:01 UTC
These sound fine to me.

Let's get them in and have people listen. Should feel more responsive.
Comment 27 Richard Titmuss 2009-08-18 13:55:22 UTC
This is already in, I think we agreed to try the new click sound at the last on site.
