Description Wallace Lai 2008-02-12 10:58:41 UTC
Jive FW: 7.0 r1915

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Connect a Jive to SqueezeNetwork and update the firmware.
2. After reboot, start using it. Things seems to be fine. Music and voice can be streammed via a Ray.
3. Notice once for a while, a brief message box appears on the bottum of the Jive. It says something about the firmware is missing. It cannot connect to the network to find the firmware.
4. The FW had just been updated, and it is doing fine. This is a very confusing message.

Note: This bug has been set to P2 and major becuase it is very VISIBLE, confusing, and, again, VISIBLE. Normally non-functional bugs do not receive high priorities.

Andy: any idea what this is?

Comment 3 Andy Grundman 2008-02-12 12:09:52 UTC
What is the exact message you are seeing? Can you get a screenshot?
Comment 4 Wallace Lai 2008-02-12 12:20:21 UTC
Hi, Andy:
Here is the exact message.

Error: Missing Firmware
Server cna't connect to Internet obtain firmware update.

It is not easy to get a screen shot. The bottom half of the msessage is long. It scrolls. The entire MsgBox appears and disappear really fast. I had to read the entire message by waiting several turns.

Wallace: Can you find me and demonstrate in person? Thanks.
Comment 6 Andy Grundman 2008-02-12 12:43:24 UTC
OK, wow that should never show up on SN let alone on Jive. What kind of player were you controlling at the time? I wonder if there is something wrong with the firmware path on SN.

Comment 8 Wallace Lai 2008-02-12 14:17:09 UTC
The Jive was used to control a Ray.
Jive's FW is 7.0 r1915 from Feb 12 01:56:03 PST 2008 (this morning).
The Ray has FW 19.

This issue started showing with this build. This is not seen on previous builds.
Comment 9 Andy Grundman 2008-02-12 14:31:16 UTC
I need your Ray MAC address.
Comment 10 Wallace Lai 2008-02-13 11:53:44 UTC
The MAC address is 00:04:20:1A:01:4E
Comment 11 Wallace Lai 2008-02-13 12:05:08 UTC
That was the Jive's MAC. The MAC for Ray is 00:04:20:16:02:54.
Comment 12 Wallace Lai 2008-02-13 16:21:17 UTC
After downgrading the Ray's FW back to 18, this message stopped showing on Jive.
Comment 13 Andy Grundman 2008-02-13 16:22:33 UTC
From looking at the SN database, I assume the FW18 player was updated to 22 when it reconnected to SN?
Comment 14 Wallace Lai 2008-02-13 16:36:46 UTC
Yes, it was likely upgraded to FW 22.
Comment 15 James Richardson 2008-02-14 09:49:46 UTC

Regression testing did not turn up any bug caused by the fix. Closing.
