Bugzilla – Bug 709
add support for "browse composers"
Last modified: 2014-08-05 19:48:01 UTC
In the menu settings, one critical option is lacking: "Browse by Composer." This is necessary for classical music as the composer (Mozart, Bethoven, et al) is often more important than the artist (conductor, symphony etc.) Otherwise, Squeezebox remains a great product! Thanks, Mark
another candidate for the SQL interface, methinks
It would greatly improve performance if it were possible to enable modification of the order of ID tag information in browse activities. For example that if one browses per genre, you can choose to get first the Composer information, then Album information and then Artist information.
I believe that the design of the 6.0 backend will allow for this using the heirarchy parameter. A fully flexible implementation isn't available yet, but the potential should be there
Dan: how hard would this be?
*** Bug 9071 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I have a customer that I filed bug # 9071 for and have redirected him to this bug, sorry for the duplicate. He would also like to have another browse option added and figured that it was a close enough subject of this bug to add the request here. When browsing the Genre category, he would like to be able to select Artist or Composer after selecting the Genre of his choice.
Routine bug db maintenance; removing old versions which cause confusion. I apologize for the inconvenience.
A composer menu would be a great addition to the interface.
Any chance of this ever happening? Is there anything missing from either the current database schema or the browsing framework that makes it difficult to implement?
Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
Available in LMS 7.9 as part of the "Extended Browse Modes" plugin.
