Description Peter Watkins 2008-02-09 08:22:29 UTC
Only the Player and Web UIs offer "All Songs" browse views for an artist (Jive should, per bug #6829). In these UIs, the tracks always seem to be sorted first by Album, then by Track Number. Often it would be easier to find a specific song if the All Songs list were sorted alphabetically by Track name. SqueezeCenter should offer that option.

Only in the web interface, right? Does the remote ui currently offer any alternative sorting options?

That's why its nice to have a search box on every page in the web interface. If you know what you're looking for, then it's easier to use than looking through even a relatively short list of track names. Some day, though, when the web interface grows up, maybe there could even be a "search within" feature.

Will consider post 7.0.

Jim -- I think the Player and Controller UIs need this option. For consistency's sake, I think the Web UI ought to behave the same.

I also have been working with a user that is interested in having this feature added to SqueezeCenter.

Pleaes update the status of this bug.

This bug is a regression. In SlimServer version 6.2.1 (player firmware 28) and previous versions, browsing All Songs within an Artist sorted the tracks as A- to-Z only once (without repeated A-to-Z for each album).

The current functionality (this bug) does not allow one to "jump" to a particular song with the remote control when browsing All Songs. It is bound by the first A-to-Z sublist; a favorite song in the second (or greater) sublist will never get found.

As this is a limitation and not a preference, this bug must get fixed or an option be available for the user to select how sorting is done. Thanks
