Description Victor Davey 2008-02-09 02:09:43 UTC
I upgraded to SlimServer 7.0 and while I love the interface the data transfer speed reduced from some 3000 kbps (100%) to less than 500 kbps. As I have ripped everything in lossless WMA at the reduced transfer rate I could no longer play my music. I have now reverted back to SlimServer 6.5 and everything is fine again.

I am using:

Sitecom wireless LAN equipment with Signal strength 94% and windows claims the speed is 54 Mbps (Mmmmm well not sure about that but it is fast)
Windows XP with all updates
Norton 360 (Mmmm not recommended!!)
Dell XPS Gen 4 machine

Am I doing something wrong or is it really something in the new software/firmware?

Kind Regards

Victor: how are you measuring the data transfer rate? What are you using to play back the audio?

Try changing your wireless LAN channel.

I was not able reproduce. I went from 6.5.4 to the 7.0 nightly with no perceived loss of transfer speed while playing WMA lossless files. Is it possible that SC 7 was still scanning your library when you had the issues?

Please get in touch with support, this doesn't appear to be a reproduceable bug.
