Bugzilla – Bug 7009
Change "Select a Music Source" menu to be more clear
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:25:32 UTC
I propose a change to the "Select a Music Source" menu on all Squeezeboxes & Transporters. (not SBC tho) Currently, on a normal setup you will see 3 choices: 1. [servername] (IP address) 2. Specify an IP for your SqueezeCenter 3. Connect to SqueezeNetwork But, if no server is running, or a firewall is blocking port 3483 UDP, you only see 2 choices: 1. Specify an IP for your SqueezeCenter 2. Connect to SqueezeNetwork The broken bit here is that in the second scenario the user first sees the "Specify an IP" message and interprets it as the next step. Which it isn't! PROPOSED CHANGE: Version 1-- If no servers are detected, add an option that states "No SqueezeCenters found" that appears first in the list, but you cannot select it as such. (pressing RIGHT would bounce.) Version 2-- Reorder the list so #2 is "Connect to SqueezeNetwork". That way if no servers are detected, the default option to appear will actually be useful and will more likely lead to a happy customer. ... Both would actually be helpful.
good suggestion. let's look at this for 7.0.1
Fixed. It will be in next firmware: SB fw 89, TR fw 38, SBR fw 24.
Which version did you implement?
Sorry about that. Version 1.
Verified SB fw 101, TR fw 49, SBR fw 36 When no SC is present then the following are listed: SqueezeNetwork > Move to SN Other Server > Enter IP address
