Bugzilla – Bug 6998
jive will not charge in shuck when battery at 0%
Last modified: 2008-10-02 14:18:51 UTC
If I have a battery at 3.7v in the Jive, then I place it in the Shuck (charging cradle), the Jive will not power up or start to charge the battery. User expectation would be that the Jive would power up while in the cradle and/or start charring the battery. NOTE: With the battery OUT of the unit, the Jive will power up automatically when placed in shuck. Step to Reproduce: 1) Allow the battery to drain in a Jive 2) Place the Jive in Shuck 3) Observe behavior noted above
Update: The battery is charging while in the cradle, there is just no user feed back that it is charging.
Per bug meeting 8FEB08, this is expected JIVE behavior. When the JIVE goes into a Power OFF state, and there is a DEAD battery in the unit, it will not automatically turn on when placed in the Cradle. This is a hardware limitation. Technical Support should be aware of this issue, just incase any customers call in with this issue. Maybe a FAQ should be written up on the WIKI site.
Moving from the old 'jive hardware' product to the new 'Squeezebox Controller' product.
