Description Julien Venetz 2008-02-04 16:45:21 UTC
Some problem using SB controller with the latest version of SC 7.0 dated Feb 2nd.

While connected to a Squeezebox Classic in room slightly further away from the Wireless router. The volume control on Jive got stuck. When push low, the volume on Squeezebox was going all the way down. When pushing up volume going all the way up.

I started using the IR remote control but those function were still stuck and I wasn't able to adjust the volume at all. I had to remove the battery of the controller to be able to adjust the volume

QA folk: has anybody seen anything like this? Please check with Julien and try to reproduce.
Comment 2 Blackketter Dean 2008-02-05 09:20:11 UTC
Julien: what version of the jive firmware are you running? Richard fixed a bug with this description last week.
Comment 3 Blackketter Dean 2008-02-05 11:06:59 UTC
Julien told me that he had just updated his firmware on saturday when he saw this behavior. He also said he'd try to reproduce.

Richard: can you give him some idea of how he might be able to trigger it again?
Comment 4 Richard Titmuss 2008-02-05 15:05:02 UTC
No! I was hoping he would be able to give me an idea of how to trigger it.
Comment 5 Blackketter Dean 2008-02-05 20:31:27 UTC
Julien: Anything you can do to help reproduce this?

Comment 6 Richard Titmuss 2008-02-06 01:17:41 UTC
I've spent a few minutes testing the volume and can't make it stick like Julien describes. Many volume problems were fix in Bug 6419, and the community was quick to point out additional problems. Without detailed steps to recreate it won't be possible to fix this. The most likely cause would be a timing issue, for example when the show briefly popup is display. But it's not that, as I've already fixed that case and retested today.

Julien: please try to reproduce...
Comment 8 Ross Levine 2008-02-06 16:56:54 UTC
I too spent an hour trying to reproduce this with r1829, and I'm not seeing anything unusual...
Comment 9 Ross Levine 2008-02-06 17:51:36 UTC
Got a chance to chat with Julien quickly about this. He said he should have time to take another look at this tonight and see if he can reproduce, he mentioned he has not seen it since the original incident.

Is it at all possible this occurred before r1648?

Ping: Julien. Can you reproduce this?

Tried and tried to reproduce... without success (don't know if this is a good or bad news)
Comment 12 Richard Titmuss 2008-02-08 12:38:48 UTC
I should say that I did manage to reproduce this earlier today, not sure how. The important detail is the volume popup was not visible. I'll review the code to see if I can spot any potential problems.

Fixed a possible cause of this bug in r1902. Please reopen the bug if you find this happens again after upgrading to tomorrow's nightly.

This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1

Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug.
