Description Pete T. 2008-01-28 12:38:01 UTC
The SB3 does not properly recognize a cue sheet for an .ogg file. The same cue sheet with the same .ogg file works fine on my PC (for example using XM Play under Win XP).

SB3 sees only the first track within the cue. When that track finishes playing, SB3 just stops playback and doesn't continue onto the next track in the cue. When pressing 'skip' on the remote (normally used to advance to the next track within the cue sheet) I get a message "Problem: Can't open file for:"

This is most likely related to the fact that it is currently not possible to fast-forward/seek within an .ogg file on an SB3. As it was explained to me, cue sheets need server-side seek support, and this is broken/not supported for Ogg.

Hopefully, there is an easy fix for this.

FYI, I'm running SlimServer 6.5.4.

Thanks,
Pete

resetting product/version/target fields.

Pete: we'll look at this again after the 7.0 release. Can you verify that the issue exists in the 7.0 nightly builds?

Alan: What do you know about seekability in ogg files?
Comment 3 Alan Young 2008-01-28 23:23:17 UTC
I don't "know" much yet. I have been provided two different opinions: (a) it is not possible because of the nature of OGG files (non-independence of frames), (b) it is possible so long as you include the header before a fragment. Clearly it is possibly in extremis, as indicated by the its support by XM Play, but I do not know how difficult this will be.

This is also related to generally better support of CUE files: see bug 3610.

Pushing off to 7.1
Comment 5 Alan Young 2008-04-04 10:36:03 UTC
Pete, would you like to test this with the 7.1 nightly build? My guess is that will work now that Ogg scanning support is included.

Alan.

Alan,

Unfortunately all my stuff is somewhere on a truck as I'm moving to a different state, so I won't be able to test this for another week or so. Thank you for the heads-up though.

Pete

Well it would not have worked as it was but should now with change 18416 that I just checked in. It would be great if you could let us know when you have had a chance to test this.
Comment 8 Pete T. 2008-04-13 22:09:20 UTC
Well, I just tested it with version 18463 - still same problem. :(

Comment 9 Alan Young 2008-04-14 01:41:39 UTC
I think that 18463 is from the 7.0.1 branch, not 7.1. These changes are only in 7.1.
Comment 10 Pete T. 2008-04-14 11:25:08 UTC
You're right. Sorry for the newbie questions, but where can I download the 7.1 from? On this site, I'm only seeing 7.0.1...

Thanks,
Pete

You could go to http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/SqueezeCenter_7.1_trunk_v2008-04-15/
for example. But beware, this is pre-beta software. Only test with this if you are comfortable testing with potentially unstable software.
Comment 12 Alan Young 2008-06-04 07:48:10 UTC
Pete, were you able to try with 7.1? Alan.
Comment 13 Alan Young 2008-06-12 09:12:13 UTC
Marking this as fixed. Pete, please reopen if you get to test this and it does not work for you.
Comment 14 Chris Owens 2008-07-30 15:28:15 UTC
This bug has now been fixed in the 7.1 release version of SqueezeCenter! Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com if you haven't already.

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.

Sorry to reopen this, but this has never been fixed. I am still having the same issue and I am running the latest available version: 7.5.3 - r31792.

Can you please look into this again?
Comment 17 Pete T. 2011-03-13 20:22:43 UTC
My bad. I reopened the wrong one. Sorry. Please disregard.
