Description Blackketter Dean 2008-01-26 17:51:21 UTC
Rather, it should stay on the now playing screen. We need an option for this under Screensavers:

Now Playing Settings

Jump back (*)
Stay on Now Playing ( )

(----------------------)
When waking up from the
Now Playing screensaver, the
screen can stay or jump back
to where you last were.

Surely this is not a function of which screen-saver is showing, but what was underneath?

If I am in settings, or browsing music or the info-browser or something, and the NP-SS kicks in, then I want it to go back to what I was doing (on motion probably). I find that with Jive, because I can use it wherever I am in the room and do not need to be standing, looking at the player, that I can easily get interrupted in the middle of doing something - you know, taking part in the family conversation or stuff like that. Actually, there probably should be two timeouts: I want NP-SS to kick in quickly most of the time (10-20s) but jump back to what I was doing on wake; after a longer timeout - say 2 minutes - the default page should become NP.

Any when in NP, use of the wheel should jump to the playlist, as centre-button may have another function. I'm not so sure about this one.

I am not sure I agree with this, why does it need to stay on now playing?
Comment 3 Ben Klaas 2008-03-11 14:02:51 UTC
I think this bug may need some live discussion.

For the record, I'm pretty much in total agreement with Alan's comment.

Consider that we have a default delay of 10 seconds to the screensaver. IMO, 10 sec delay + not jumping back on wake = unhappy customers.

Ben: how would you feel about looking a this for 7.0.1?
Comment 5 Ben Klaas 2008-03-11 19:56:06 UTC
probably not a trivial fix, but that's fine with me. I think we may have some differing opinions on how it should work, so let's get that sorted out a.s.a.p.
Comment 6 Richard Titmuss 2008-03-12 05:40:57 UTC
This bug should also consider how the now playing screen saver behaves on motion.

Dean, lets discuss this on the phone. I really think jump back on wake is the right behavior for jive.
Comment 7 Blackketter Dean 2008-03-12 06:34:23 UTC
I agree, we should move to JBOW for the Now Playing screensaver.

I'm not completely decided on what the right behavior is when you spin the wheel on the large NP screen, let's discuss that separately.
Comment 8 Richard Titmuss 2008-03-12 07:09:28 UTC
I'm confused, I thought we had jump back on wake. hmm.
Comment 9 Ben Klaas 2008-03-12 07:16:19 UTC
we do have jump back on wake. the bug is about having an option to *not* jump back on wake.

If we have to have that option (IMO, I find anything _but_ jump back on wake for the SBC confusing), we have to be pretty careful on the behavior when that option is selected (see Alan's comment#1), particularly because of our default 10 second delay on the screensaver kicking in.
Comment 10 Blackketter Dean 2008-03-12 08:17:55 UTC
Ok, so we all agree. Let's leave it as is and address the scrolling issue on the NP screen separately.
