Description Ross Levine 2008-01-24 12:00:45 UTC
Can't seem to upgrade to latest firmware from this version, Steven has also seen this.
Comment 1 Richard Titmuss 2008-01-24 12:56:01 UTC
Are you trying a network or SD card update? If it is SD card this is likely a duplicate of bug 6738.
Comment 2 Ross Levine 2008-01-24 12:56:28 UTC
I'm sorry should have mentioned, network updates.
Comment 3 Richard Titmuss 2008-01-24 12:58:06 UTC
Well this works for me, I'll need a log to see what's gone wrong.

jive log network fw update failure from 1584
Comment 5 Ross Levine 2008-01-24 13:31:22 UTC
That log is an attempted update from r1584, seems to be the same problem. Will that suffice?
Comment 6 Richard Titmuss 2008-01-24 13:43:59 UTC
I don't see a firmware update in that log?

Were you trying to do a firmware upgrade without connecting to a player first? That uses a default url, it may be struggling as the nightly failed. Does it work if you upgrade using SC (e.g. connect to a player before starting the upgrade)?
Comment 7 Ross Levine 2008-01-25 14:55:51 UTC
Trying to upgrade from r1605 to latest nightly doesn't work for me either. I've tried with todays nightly and a player connected, still appears broken. Steven says it works fine from r1220.
Comment 8 Ross Levine 2008-01-25 15:20:25 UTC
Verified Steven's comment, from 1220 the firmware upgrade works just fine. From 1425 it fails. Steven said it fails from 1425 nearly 90% of the time but sometimes works.
Comment 9 Blackketter Dean 2008-01-25 17:39:05 UTC
This is worrisome, but the log doesn't show any upgrading... Ross will post more logs.

Comment 12 KDF 2008-01-25 20:10:04 UTC
I have had similar issues. SD update would copy and stop. Network update would say Copying, but never show percentage.
Solved by reverting to previous and updating. Jives are P7 and P8, so haven't really dug into it much.

I have a build of 1627, and my build of 1631 seems to have upgraded ok.
Comment 13 Richard Titmuss 2008-01-27 11:19:06 UTC
The upgrade would get stuck on 0% if the download url was not available, for example a HTTP 404 error. This is fixed in r1645, and the upgrade fails as expected. This is probably caused by using an older version of SC. When the Jive firmware version was changed from "1 rXXX" to "7.0 rXXX" a SC change was needed too. Ross in your log I see a "1 rXXX" version number, you should see this bug fixed by upgrading SC.
Comment 14 Richard Titmuss 2008-01-27 12:11:33 UTC
SC tells Jive the URL download, the notifications for this (in Jive) were cleaned up in r1646.
Comment 15 Richard Titmuss 2008-01-27 15:04:51 UTC
I have tested various scenarios of the Jive firmware upgrade and really do think everything is fine. As I mentioned earlier the likely problem is an old SC version (although I'm not sure that applies to kdf). Please see http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42771 from more details.

If it still does not work after following the instructions in the thread please reopen this bug.

This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1

Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug.
