The jive applet api allows the applet to specify valid versions. This used to be checked against the value in the jive.version file ('1'). Before 7.0 was released this version number was changed to match the SC version and the check in AppletManager disabled. A sensible api needs to be created for this.

Triode has some better ideas about how to implement this. Moving to 7.4.
