Description Blackketter Dean 2008-01-23 14:19:14 UTC
So, the Info Browser Extra appears in the Jive UI, but doesn't actually do anything. I think we need to address this for 7.0. There are a couple of options:

1. Add the Info Browser backend to SqueezeNetwork.

This might be more work than we have time for at this point, though I'd like some advice from Triode and Andy on this.

2. Disable the Jive extra when connected to SqueezeNetwork.

I don't know how this mechanism might work, and it might even be harder than #1 for all I know...

Thoughts, gentlemen?

We also need to figure out where the old RSSNews and Podcast plugins fit in (or don't) with InfoBrowser...
Comment 2 Adrian Smith 2008-01-23 14:30:21 UTC
Agreed - I was proposing to remove all but the Screensaver potion of RSS ticker a while back, but Dean wanted this included in infobrowser (which was too much work at the time!)

Anyway - for SN you could just include the infobrowser plugin with a fixed opml menu for all users? The plugin is really just a wrapper around xmlbrowser plus some management code for addon menu and parser addons but these would not be relavent to SN.

If we could get a syncing solution for opml files between SN and SC then we could share the menu from SC to SN and visa versa.

Yeah, I definitely want to have a unified info browser for sb and jive based products soon... It sounds like the

but for 7.0, i'm worried about the single extra item with a single broken item on the home menu for folks connected to SN.

So, to focus back on this for SN, andy, should this be an SN bug and can we address it for the release?
Comment 5 Andy Grundman 2008-01-30 11:31:26 UTC
It looks like InfoBrowser's menu item in Jive is setup on the Jive side and not from SC. And since it doesn't send a client ID, it can't work with SN.
Comment 6 Andy Grundman 2008-01-30 11:34:53 UTC
Assigning back to Triode. InfoBrowser should send the client ID.
Comment 7 Blackketter Dean 2008-01-30 12:17:59 UTC
Triode: what do you suggest? It's not good that it appears but is broken on an SN connected Jive...

Comment 8 Adrian Smith 2008-01-30 15:11:47 UTC
player id added for jive in r1710 - needs to be implemented on SN now
Comment 9 Andy Grundman 2008-01-31 11:37:33 UTC
Fixed on SN.
