Description Jon Eben Field 2008-01-22 18:44:57 UTC
SC7 (3 nightly builds 08, 16, 21) encounters error on rescan of library after initial successful install and scan when albums are added.

Reproduce:

1.) Install SC7 (initial scan of library works)
2.) Add properly tagged albums
3.) Rescan (look for new /changed music)

Actual Result:

The application crashed. Both Scanner Error Log and Windows Error Report included below.

Expected Result:

The scanner should have normally scanned the library.

Build 2008-01-08, 2008-01-16, 2008-01-25 (same error each time) on Windows XP

Windows Error Report:

please leave targets undefined for new bugs.

please go into server settings->advanced->logging, set scanner.scan to DEBUG

The log should now show which file is being processed at the time of the crash. Please attach that track.
Also, if you know what programs have been used to tag the file, let us know. it looks like something odd has been stuffed into the replaygain, or iTunes Soundcheck tags.

Almost all music files have been tagged with MusicBrainz Picard tagger. Last twenty albums have been tagged using Jaikoz.

hrm, that log seems to suggest no files are found, and doesn't show the same crash that you initially posted or really any crash as all. If you remember which new files you had just added when this crash happened, maybe you can attach one of those. It may also be possible to fool the scanner by copying folders and letting the scanner find those as 'new' files until you can reproduce the crash.

You could try 'clear library and rescan everything', it will go through and rescan all the files and hopefully cause the same crash.

Rescan (new and changed) Scanner Error Log post build 22 installation

No changes in library since installation. Rescan (new and changed). Scanner Error Log posted.
Comment 8 Andy Grundman 2008-01-23 14:48:33 UTC
Please do a 'clear library and rescan everything', these logs are not helpful because nothing is being scanned.

Andy & Deane,

Sorry for the delay. I have been trying to resolve the issue on my own. What had happened was that a few albums in MediaMonkey had Album Art attached, but the album art file had been deleted. When I discovered this, I removed the album art associations in MediaMonkey and the scanner now works fine. Sorry about the headache. Thanks for all your help. SC7 is an amazing interface and a genuine step forward.
