Bugzilla – Bug 6718
MusicIP prefs namespace
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:11:54 UTC
debug and prefs for MusicIP still refer to MusicMagic. For that matter, so does bugzilla. As these are all exposed to the user, we may want to consider changing these to properly refer to the, now long standing, MusicIP branding either for 7 or shortly after. String Tokens and templates need not change, although this can certainly be done post-7.
Dean - I'd prefer having the log and prefs changes in 7.0, as this might lead to some confusion/lost settings for beta testers. But I'd prefer having the beta testers only loose settings than later when it's officially announced. And I'd rather not add code to migrate earlier beta user's settings to the new ones (plugin.musicmagic -> plugin.musicip migration). It complicates things, and that kind of change imho is what beta testers must be prepared to. An announcement in the beta group could explain the manual migration. what do you think?
The debug change is probably safe and good to do now, since it's visible to the user, but the prefs names are internal and probably not worth changing at this point. I'll fix bugzilla now, that's risk free. :)
the debug change is in 7.0 at change 16688. Leaving open until we consider whether it's worth changing the prefs file name after 7.0 is released. I'm not sure we want to deal with migration, so this might just close.
no critical bug fix - punting post 7.0.x
Dean - do you want the prefs to be migrated too?
that would be fine.
change 19093 - migrating plugin.musicmagic to plugin.musicip, and replacing some more occurences of musicmagic with musicip. Feel free to re-open if needed.
This bug has now been fixed in the 7.1 release version of SqueezeCenter! Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com if you haven't already. If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
