Description Philippe Kehl 2008-01-21 02:32:37 UTC
I've seen this for several releases now (not sure if it ever worked). If you go to Extras->Information Browser and then into one of the Feeds (e.g. Slashdot) you'll see the list of news entries. The first entry is selected but the text does not start to scroll (what it should do if it's longer than the available space [which is usually the case]). It does scroll, however, if you go down in the list and back to the first element.

Triode, is this specific to Info Browser?
Comment 2 Adrian Smith 2008-01-23 13:28:30 UTC
Can't see why it would be specific to InfoBrowser...

Philippe - this is on the 1st menu entry when using jive (controller) right?

Looks like a jive bug to me.

If you enter a menu level, the default selection is the top line. If this is too long then it will not scroll. However if you change the selection to another menu item and then back to the top line it will scroll. So the potential problem is that the selected item does not scroll on entering a menu window.

Can't prove this as I don't have any other menus where the top entry should scroll.

Richard - care to comment?

Yes, it is. I always see this when I go Home->Extras->Information Browser->Slashdot (or any other feed). Just after entering the Feed the list of items appears and the first one is selected. If it is longer than the screen width it doesn't start scrolling. Once I move down to any other item and the back to the first, it starts scrolling normally (i.e. after a short delay).

I just checked it with other menus. I see the same behaviour in Home->Music Library->Music Folder. I created a folder named "aaa_a_very_long_folder_name" (which appears as the first entry in the list) and it doesn't start scrolling, too. It does scroll when I go down in the list and back to this first entry.

I just noticed this: when the first entry is selected and I turn the weel just a bit, i.e. so that it clicks (on the speaker) once but doesn't move, the entry starts scrolling.

Seems to be a general problem.

I don't have any long enough first entry in the other menues with icons (e.g. Music Library->{Artists,Albums,Genres,New Music}) so I cannot check it easily.

Generic problem in the jive/ui code then - reassigning to Richard.
