Bugzilla – Bug 6660
two or three Players are not synchronized after a while
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:31:35 UTC
Hello, today i installed the new beta "SqueezeCenter-Version: 7.0 - 16430 - Windows XP - DE - cp1252" I synchronisize two or three SqueezeBoxes, after a while there is a difference from 2 or 3 seconds by each player. Thank you for confirming the bug M. Fleischer
Have you changed the default setting for any of the players away from 'Maintain Synchronization while playing': see Settings / Players / <player> / Audio / Maintain Synchronization. Please check this for each player and also the values of Minimum Synchronization Adjustment and Network Packet Latency (the defaults are 10ms and 2ms respectively). What platform is SC running on? What type of network connections are you using? What sort of music source are you using (local track - format, internet radio, music service)? After how long playing do you notice a 2-3s difference. How do you configure synchronization: with the player UI (remote control) or the Web UI? Can you check that SqueezeCentrer still thinks that the players synchronized after you have set it up: for example, with the player UI / Settings / Synchronize on player-A do you see 'Go right to unsync with: / player-B and player-C'? If you are still having problems after the above checks, please enable debug-level logging for player.sync (Settings / Advanced / Logging / player.sync) and then attach the generated logfile to this bug report.
Hello, i am using a normal cable network with 100 Mbit/s the Slim Server is installed on a Windows XP Professional workstation. I tested it only with internetradio, my favourite station 977.com. With the last version of the SlimServer it works very fine in the same enviroment. I tested the synchronisation with the remote control and with the new plugin for the iPhone. If i try tu unsync the players with the remote control, the complete squeezebox hang off, and i have to press a long time the power button and then the box restarts without synchronisation. I wil test by playing local mp3 music directly from the slimserver and report you! With best regards M. Fleischer
I did not mean that you should actually unsync with the player UI. Just to check that you should use the Player UI to check that SqueezeCentre thinks that the players are synchronized the way you think.
Make sure the radio source is MP3. WMA streams will usually not sync properly (see bug 6599).
Markus: what model squeezeboxes are these?
Hello, all squeezeboxes are the lan one without W-LAN interface. With best regards Markus Fleischer
Yes, but what model are they: SqueezeBox (= SqueezeBox 1), SqueezeBox2 or SqueezeBox v3. See http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?HardwareComparison for an overview if you are not sure. And to repeat a couple of previous questions: What sort of music source are you using (local track - what format, internet radio - what format, music service)? After how long playing do you notice a 2-3s difference.
Markus, Are you still having a problem with this? Alan.
Hello, i didn´t had the time last week for testing. I would test this weekend a little bit exactlier, the following things i would test: -sync starting with the remote control -sync starting with the iPhone -sync starting with the webfrontend with best regard Markus Fleischer
Markus, did you manage to test at the weekend?
Markus: Is this still an issue for you?
Hello, i did in the past two Updates, at first i made the update for the slimserver and i made the newes update for the iPenag software. At this time i had no error and delays by playing music with synchronized players! But if there is now party in my house, i did not use this feature so much! But i would say, for the time the problem is fixed! With best regars M. Fleischer
