In Playlists screen. I feel that hitting the Home button from the playlist screen ought to take you back to the Now Playing screen and not to the main menu as it does currently.

I'll leave this open for consideration, however there is a button for what you want already on the remote labeled 'now playing'.

There is but I feel that current behaviour counter-intuitive

I'm going to have to make a call on this and say that the back button is the button for this.  Home button should always take you home, except when you are already home.
