I don't like the pause between the end of a list and the beginning. It knocks me out of the swing of things. I think scrolling would be best circular and smooth for long lists like albums and artists.

Currently if you select browse by albums (or artists) and then try to scroll upwards (if you want to get to an album called Zebra for instance) you get this pause before the scrolling even starts.

I agree with this, it does become slightly annoying after a while, but i would like to leave it for general menus etc.

The pause has got worse with 7.1/7.2 and I often find that scrolling upwards directly after selecting Browse Albums or Artists etc leaves me with an entirely blank screen for a second or two.
