Description stroganov.a 2008-01-17 10:55:06 UTC
started slimserver by hand

Seeing a lot of the following:
Error: Select task failed: Can't locate object method "newFromPngData" via package "GD::Image" at /Library/PreferencePanes/SqueezeCenter.prefPane/Contents/server/Slim/Web/Graphics.pm line 250

The main preferences page loads, but extremely slowly.

What do you mean by "Control panel"? The preference pane? The settings in the web interface? Or just the web interface? Are you using the very latest build?

Please also make sure you clear your browser's cache and fully reload the page. What browser are you using anyway?

I'm running SC from the console all day long and can't remember having seen this message recently.
Comment 2 stroganov.a 2008-01-18 10:52:55 UTC
The web interface (So I got the server to start from cli)
And yes, it's the latest build
Using Firefox, or Camino, or Safari, all the same problem.
Comment 3 Michael Herger 2008-01-18 23:32:22 UTC
Very likely related to bug 6634 - you shouldn't need any additional module.

QA to reproduce.
Comment 4 stroganov.a 2008-01-18 23:42:25 UTC
Not sure about that. GD is in fact present in the preferencepane CPAN directory (/Library/PreferencePanes/SqueezeCenter.prefPane/Contents/server/CPAN). Unless it's trying to use my system's built-in GD module rather than the one that it came with?
Comment 5 Michael Herger 2008-01-19 00:48:38 UTC
Can you try running from the shell using "slimserver.pl --d_startup" and upload the input here? This will give you more information about the module loading process.

Any news on this? Still an issue?
Comment 7 Spies Steven 2008-03-11 09:16:14 UTC
I have tried reproducing the reported behavior on a number of different Mac OS X systems with the final version of SqueezeCenter without success. If this is still an issue please reopen and attach the log that Michael requested in comment #5.
Comment 8 James Richardson 2008-05-02 13:11:25 UTC
Unable to reproduce on OS X 10.5.2
Marking bug as verified fixed
Comment 9 James Richardson 2008-05-15 12:27:09 UTC
This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1

Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug.

Reduce number of active targets for SC
