Richard- assign this my way if you want me to try to fix, but I think that the changes you put in for allowing window transitions under showBrieflies caused this.

one thought I had was to put in a check in NowPlaying to see if the tick timer was already set, but that's a bit of a band-aid.

This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1

Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug.
