Description Blackketter Dean 2008-01-09 07:56:54 UTC
Pressing and holding the PLAY button should trigger it (as on Squeezebox) as well as a menu choice in song info.

FYI, I've got a raftload of bugs targeted for fix by 7.0, and I needed to prioritize them for my own sanity and productivity. They are prioritized between P1 and P5.

My goal is to fix them all, but I will do them pretty much in order of priority as we approach the 7.0 release date.

After discussion with Dean about it, this falls below add to favorites support, thus it is a P4 bug.

The following enhancement request describes a more generic solution to the mixers problem:
https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6021

Dean has earlier closed 6022 in favour for the solution described in 6021.

lets just officially mark this as P4, shall we :)

I'd love to see CLI access to the MusicIP stuff.. Will the solution for this bug provide that, or should I open a new feature request ?
Comment 6 Ben Klaas 2008-03-05 13:34:31 UTC
per discussion today, bug fixes are targetted for 7.0.1, new features for 7.1. This is the latter.

Ben (and others) - is there any chance of reviewing the priority of this bug now it has been targeted for 7.1? It is still P4 which seems a bit odd to me, particularly given that a large number of the other bugs which are targeted for 7.1 with much higher priority relate to third party plugins. This is a standard SC plugin which currently can't be utilised at all by the Controller. However, consious that we can probably only see some aspects of the overall target plan from bugzilla. It also relates to all hardware, not just Mac.

sorry, the only reason this sits as a P4 is that I haven't done the exercise I've already done with 7.0.1 target bugs, namely to mass-wipe the priority field that was set when they were opened against 7.0.

wiping P4 priority, setting hardware to 'all'

a note: I haven't been piping in on this subject, but I do lurk on forum threads and I've been reading the frequent calls for Music IP support. I would rank it as one of the top 2 bugs to be fixed beyond 7.0.1. I'll do my best to address this as quickly as possible, and will update this bug with progress.

initial support for MusicIP on SBC is complete. I will post a more detailed thread on the beta forum later today detailing it.

There were changes on both SBC and SC for this:
for SBC, you will need 7.1 >= r2486
for SC, you will need SC 7.1 trunk >= r19932

(this will pass up the chain to 7.2 very soon as well)

I ended up posting to the SqueezeOS forum instead of Beta, as I thought it was better placed there:

Ben, is it possible to add an "add to playlist" option on mix, in addition to the current "play this mix" option?

It would be consistent with the webui, enable the saving of playlists without the need to start playing them, and enable you to add more than one musicip mix to a playlist via the Controller.

If you'd like me to open a separate enhancement, let me know.

Hardcoding of MusicIP in Queries.pm was replaced with generic mixer support in change 20582.

If your only mixer is MIP, you should not notice any change (please report so if you do).

If you have multiple mixers, the code right now only attempts a mix with the first mixer off the Slim::Importers stack. I'll be adding support for multiple mixers (and perhaps more, which could at least partially appease bug#6021) later this week.

This bug has now been fixed in the 7.1 release version of SqueezeCenter! Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com if you haven't already.

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
