Description Stefan Kinell 2008-01-09 05:17:25 UTC
When upgrading to 16048 from 15712 I got the following scenario:

 squeezecenter conflicts with slimserver
slimserver (version 7.0) is present and installed.

So I had to uninstall slimserver to install squeezecenter. If this is going to happen to "normal" 6.xx users upgrading to 7.xx I would argue it is a bug.

Also, I was asked to copy over some adjacent information from another bug: https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6216 regarding the favourites.opml file not being created in my plalist folder:

  Yes, please do so.

Hmm... it should. This is probably going in the same direction as the
aforementioned conflict. Though we want to keep the existing configuration.
Please add this comment to the new bug too.

The question here is whether you can use the favorites or not? Do they
  eventually show up?

Matt: can you look at this?

I need to check this out at home where I have a Ubuntu box, but I see nothing in any of the new squeezecenter files that link to /var/cache/slimserver ... is it possible that your old slimserver process didn't die, and is still writing to that directory?

I'm going to look into the upgrade process from 'slimserver' -> 'squeezecenter', but for the sake of the nightly builds we did not spend time on a clean upgrade. Instead, to avoid leaving orphaned files, we just force the user to remove the old package before installing the new one. This is similar to how the SliMP3 package was handled when it moved to slimserver.

This should be fixed now... instead of just conflicting, we're also telling the installer to remove the old slimserver package.

This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html

If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
